Day to Day Itinerary

Bhutan & India TourDay 1: Kolkata / Delhi.
On arrival, the clients will be received by our agent at the airport and transferred to a near by   hotel. Next morning, they will be transferred to the domestic airport to board the flight to Bagdogra.

Day 2: Bagdpgra – Darjeeling. 85 km. 4 hrs.
Arrive Bagdogra ex- kolkata/Delhi by Jet Air ways or Indian airlines where our guide will receive you at the airport and drive to Darjeeling.

Day 3: Darjeeling Sightseeing.
Early morning make an excursion to Tiger Hill to view sunrise over Mt. Kunchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world. En route visit Yigacholing Ghoom Monastery which it has famous statue of Maitreya Buddha (The future Buddha).

After breakfast the sightseeing tour of Darjeeling visiting Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoological Park, Tibetan Refugee self Help center, the nearest tea garden to witness the manufacturing process of Darjeeling tea.
After noon joy train ride from Darjeeling to Ghoom 8 Km and return to hotel by a car. Evening at leisure. Overnight hotel.

Day 4: Darjeeling – Sikkim. 95 Km. 5 hrs.
Transfer to Pelling, West Sikkim passing through the evergreen forests, famous tea gardens of Darjeeling, terraced farmlands, hamlets etc. Overnight hotel.

Day 5: Sikkim Sightseeing.
Am. Sightseeing tour of Pelling visiting Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim, Rabdentse the second palace of Sikkim which lies in ruins, Kechipalri lake or wish fulfilling lake which is located at the midst of verdant forest. PM. Transfer to Gangtok. Overnight hotel.

Day 6 : Sightseeing of Gangtok.
Rumtek Monastery the seat of HH Karmapa of Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicrafts, Enchey Monastery, Flower Festival and view Points.  Evening at leisure. Overnight hotel.

Day 7: Gangtok  - Kalimpong via river Teesta (76 Km. 3hrs).
Sightseeing tour in Kalimpong includes – Zangdopalri Phodrang monastery, Deola Hill, Durpin Hill, a private flower/ cactus nursery and walk around the typical little town of Kalimpong. Overnight hotel.

Day 8: Kalimpong – Phuentsholing, (Bhutan) 180 Km. 6 hrs.
Today you will travel through the rain forest, farmlands and roadside Baazar with vibrant local culture and famous tea garden of the Dooars. On arrival you will received by the representative of Bhutanese counterpart in Border Phuentsholing.

Altitude 300. Meters. This town is southern part of country border with India & Bhutan.    You will realize that once when you cross the gate. What the Bhutan is mean. Peace and harmony. Although, nothing much to see here in south part of Bhutan. But if time permits only thing we could see is kharbandi Gonpa. The Queen Mother of Bhutan built it and it is 5 kilometers from main town. But from here you will enjoy the whole panoramic view border of India & Bhutan.   Overnight hotel.

Day 9: Phuentsholing – Thimphu. 170Km. 6 Hours. Altitude 2350m.
Today will be only driving day to the capital Thimphu through many winding road of      Bhutan. But one will come across lot of changes in vegetation and climate from tropical to sub-tropical to alpines forests.

The sceneries are very beautiful dropping down from valley to gorge, ravens and rocks.  Moreover you will come across one of big hydroelectric project that Bhutan have in country. It is called Tala Hydro Project and you will come across lot of check pints where they check the passing of vehicles and people. Overnight hotel.

Day 10: Thimphu Sightseeing.
Visit Arts and Crafts school where one can see young children at work.
Visit Traditional Medicine Institute where the ancient healing arts are still practiced.
Visit Memorial Chorten built in 1974 to honor memory of Late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, popularly known as the Father of Modern Bhutan. A multi storied stupa that will introduce you to the vitality of Tantric Buddhism.
Observed traditional paper making from Daphnia and Edgeworthia shrub to finished product and   purchase some beautiful writing sets from the factory.
Visit the mini zoo sanctuary where one can see the Takin, the National Animal of Bhutan.
Drive up to viewpoint and take a hike beyond for about an hour to see clear picture of Thimphu valley.
Downtown Thimphu on foot visiting Handicrafts Emporium and other Arts & Crafts stores. Buy stunning Kiras which can be used and bed covers or wall decoration.

Day 11: Thimphu - Punakha.77Km. 3 hours. Altitude: 1350m
Drive to Punakha via Dochula -Pass 3150m above the sea level overlooking the high Himalayas and the lush green valleys of Talo and Mendigang, lunch at Punakha and sightseeing including a visit to the exquisite Punakha Dzong, which is consider the old capital of Bhutan and the Kingship was started from here in 1907, 17th December, the first king of Bhutan was crowned here and every consecutive year in this date. It is celebrate as a national day in Bhutan.

After the Dzong drive further to do a mini hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyel Chorten and once when you reach up on the top you will witness all the winding view of Mo-Chu river below with the villages and if you look towards north you will see the snow capped mountains.  Overnight hotel.

Day 12: Excursion to Gantey Gonpa or either you can make hike around.  Approx 45Km.  4hrs. Altitude 3000m.
Gangtey Gomba was built in small hillock surrounded by the blue pine trees and it was found by the descended of Pema Lingpa. The great Bhutanese saint from Bumthang in 16th century and Nyimpa Monastery. At the end of 17th century it was enlarge once and at present it is headed by the 9th reincarnation called Gangtey Trulku. At present it is under renovation and it is ring with family house of Gomchens (Lay man) who work and worship at monastery.

Further down you will reach to Phobjikha valley. This place is reserved for the migration of black Neck Crane. The people out here has become friendly with the endanger species and every consecutive year starting from 2nd week of November to 1st week of April. The fields and marshes of this undisturbed valley is truly sight as you watch the cranes. After having a picnic lunch drive back to wangdue.  Overnight hotel.

Day 13:  Wangdue – Paro. 142 Km. 5 hrs. Altitude: 2250m.
Drive to Paro will follow same route back till chuzom (Confluence) where the two rivers meet. Wangchuk River from Thimphu & Pa- Chu from Paro and after crossing the bridge you will turn to right towards Paro valley. Paro is located in a flat valley awash with rice fields that lie above a narrow gorge. This fertile valley was the seat of power in western Bhutan during nineteenth century. In the evening you will have a chance to visit the valley’s largest dzong.

Paro Dzong. A Dzong is a fortress that holds offices for civil officials and quarters for the monastic authorities.  All Dzongs are built in harmony with the land that they protect and often raise directly out of the ridges they were built upon.  You will spend the evening at the Gantey Palace.  The hotel provides a spectacular view of the Paro Dzong and as well dzong. 

Check in the hotel and lunch.  Visit National museum of Bhutan, Paro Dzong and walk down through the cantilever bridge that it will take you down to Paro town have leisure at shops. Overnight hotel.

Day 14 : Taktsang excursion.
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Sartsam Chorten for a day hike to Taktsang Monastery. The name Taktsang means “ Tiger’s Nest”. This magical monastery clings to vertical granite cliff 800 m above the valley floor.  Legend says that Guru Padmasambhava flew to a cave on this cliff riding a tiger-hence the name –to meditate. The tiger was actually his favorite consort, Yeshe Tsogyel, whom he transformed into a tiger for the purpose of this journey, they meditated in the cave, and when Guru left he instructed for the monastery to be built. The monastery was burnt badly and the carbon copy was built exactly as before.

Other possible excursions include visiting the Drukgyel Dzong. Built in 1649 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to defense Bhutan from further aggression from the Tibetans.

Another tour include visit to Kichu Lhakhang. Built in 7th century by Songtsen Gampo the first King of Tibet, the monastery was one of 108 built to help spread Buddhism through the Himalayas. It is located just outside of Paro and is one of the country oldest and most sacred places.

Day 15 : Departure.
An early morning Departure to: Bangkok (Thailand), Katmandu (Nepal), and Kolkata/Delhi (India) Dhaka and Myanmar.
